Best Sessions for Gold Scalping

Strategy 1: London Open Momentum Scalp

This is my highest-probability gold scalping strategy. It exploits gold's tendency to sweep the Asian session range at London open, then move decisively in one direction.

Rules

1. Before London open (06:30-07:00 GMT): Mark the Asian session high and low on M15 chart
2. At London open: Watch how gold reacts to the Asian range boundaries
3. Wait for the sweep: Gold breaks above the Asian high (or below the Asian low) by 50-100 pips, then quickly reverses back inside the range
4. Entry signal: M5 candle closes back inside the Asian range after the sweep. This confirms the fake breakout.
5. Entry: Market order on the M5 close back inside the range
6. Stop loss: 150 pips beyond the sweep high/low
7. Take profit: Opposite extreme of the Asian range (300-500 pips typically)
8. Time limit: If trade is not in profit within 30 minutes, close at market

Example

Asian range: $2,645 (low) to $2,652 (high) = $7 range
London open: Gold spikes to $2,653.50 (above Asian high), then reverses
M5 candle closes at $2,651 (back inside range)
Entry: SELL at $2,651
Stop Loss: $2,655 (400 pips above sweep high)
Take Profit: $2,645 (600 pips, Asian low)
Risk-Reward: 1:1.5 ✓

Strategy 2: Order Block Bounce Scalp

Uses EA Semi-Auto's H1 Order Block identification for scalp entries on M5.

Rules

1. Identify H1 Order Blocks using EA Semi-Auto (or manually on H1 chart)
2. Wait for price to approach the OB zone during London or NY session
3. Switch to M5 when price enters the zone
4. Entry: M5 rejection candle (pin bar or engulfing) within the OB zone
5. Stop loss: 100-200 pips beyond the OB boundary
6. Take profit: 200-400 pips (nearest M15 structure level)
7. Time limit: Close if not in profit within 20 minutes

Strategy 3: Round Number Rejection Scalp

Exploits gold's strong reactions at $50 and $100 round numbers.

Rules

1. Identify the nearest round number ($2,600, $2,650, $2,700, etc.)
2. Wait for price to approach within $2-3 of the round number
3. Watch for rejection on M5: Pin bar with wick touching or penetrating the round number, body closing away from it
4. Entry: On the M5 rejection candle close
5. Stop loss: 200 pips beyond the round number
6. Take profit: 300-500 pips from entry

Save your scalping chart setup as a template: right-click chart → Templates → Save Template → name it "Gold_Scalp." This lets you instantly load your scalping workspace every session.

8 Gold Scalping Mistakes

1. Scalping during Asian session — Spreads are 2-3x wider, moves are random and small. London and NY only.
2. No pre-planned levels — Entering scalps at random prices based on "feel." Always have pre-identified zones before the session starts.
3. Holding losing scalps too long — A scalp that is not working within 15-20 minutes is probably wrong. Cut it. The purpose of scalping is fast in, fast out.
4. Over-trading — Taking 10+ scalps per day leads to fatigue, poor decisions, and commission costs eating profits. 3-5 quality scalps is optimal.
5. Wrong account type — Scalping gold on Standard account with 3.5+ pip spreads makes targets nearly unreachable. XM Zero is essential.
6. Ignoring the bigger picture — Scalping buy trades while H4 is in a strong downtrend. Always align scalp direction with H1/H4 trend.
7. No time limit on scalps — A scalp should work quickly. If your buy at $2,650 is still at $2,650 after 20 minutes, the level is not reacting. Close and look for the next setup.
8. Fatigue trading — Scalping requires intense focus. After 2-3 hours, your decision-making degrades. Stop before you make mistakes.
